In case you hadn’t noticed! This weekend has been set aside and extended to mark the Diamond Jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, The Queen ascended to the throne on the 6th February 1952 following the death of her father King George VI. At the time princess Elizabeth was touring a remote area of Kenya, on the news of her father’s death she returned to the UK as Queen.
During the period of her reign, amazing scientific achievements have taken place. From the inventions of IVF and the Mobile telephone to the discovery of DNA, Quarks and Cloning. In the relatively short period of human history that she has ruled for, science has taken incredible steps forward.
And to celebrate, those great people over at Periodic Videos have produced a video to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee…
Whether you are taking part in a street party, standing on the banks of the Thames for the royal flotilla, attending the Epsom Derby, going to a concert in the grounds of Buckingham Palace or just taking in the events over the weekend. I’m sure it will be a weekend to remember.
