Nobel Prize in Chemistry?

Yesterday John B. Gurdon and Shinya Yamanaka were announced as  the joint winners of the 2012 Nobel Prize in Medicine for their discovery that mature cells can be reprogrammed to become pluripotent. This discovery was one of the first signs of stem cells which (in very simple terms) are cells which could become any type of cell. Scientists have been very interested in stem cells since their discovery, as the possible applications in repairing any damaged tissue are very powerful.
