The Nobel Prize in Chemistry 2012

This year’s Nobel prize for chemistry has just been announced. The Nobel prize is an award for a piece of research or work over a period of time which has changed the way scientists think about their subject.

Last year’s prize looked at Quasi Crystals which were discovered on 8th April 1982 it was a discovery which was so radical that the discoverer, Daniel Shechtman, was isolated by his colleagues for years as a fool before finally being accepted as truth.
