Struggling with shells after Calcium

As we’ve just finished looking at electronic structure I found a beauty of a periodic table showing all the electron shells for all of the elements in the periodic table as “dot & cross” diagrams. Great for showing what happens after Calcium!

You can see clearly on this how the transition metals start to fill up an inner shell rather than the outer shell. This explains a lot of their chemistry later!
