Dr Carine Lewis has a keen interest in music and psychology. She read Psychology at the University of Hertfordshire and combined both interests in her research. She published her first paper, Breaking away from set patterns of thinking: Improvisation and divergent thinking, in the journal ‘Thinking Skills and Creativity’. After completing her degree and PHd at the University of Hertfordshire Dr Lewis was appointed Lecturer in Psychology in 2011 before moving to be senior analyst at Asthma research UK. Dr Lewis was recently appointed to the role of Research Manager at the UK’s National Offender Management Service.
We are delighted that Dr Lewis is able to join us to speak about her work and give an insight into the links that Psychology can offer musicians and performers alike.
